Crowne Plaza Liverpool wedding – St. Mary’s Waterloo – Philip and Elizabeth
A few months after their pre-wedding photo session, I met Philip and Elizabeth on their wedding day at St. Mary’s church in Waterloo, Liverpool. No bridal preparations this time for the photographer…
Phillip was talking with the best man and the vicar, waiting for Elizabeth to arrive. Having a few minutes to spare, I took them outside for a few mens photos. Right after Beth arrived, I also took some photos of hers and the bridesmaids, but being a very cold day of December,we had to take the photos in a hurry. Yes, sometimes I am given very little time – mostly because of the weather – so I need to work quickly.
The wedding ceremony was really nice, with live music from a four-piece band playing melodic ballads. It wasn’t long before all of their guests were singing along! Right after we went outside for a big group photo of all the guests. I drove behind the wedding car all the way to the hotel, trying to capture the couple at the back seat. Having arranged for the wedding breakfast to be served 30 minutes after the couple’s arrival at the hotel, we utilised the hotels (ex-airport’s) round stairs for the group photos – breaking the big group into smaller ones of course. A live band and a DJ filled the room with music right after the meal and speeches.
The old airplane photo was shot at the back of the hotel, where the old Speke airport’s runway used to be. With the use of only an on-camera flash, I used manual settings to underexpose the sky while keeping the couple at the right exposure. Happy to have achieved a dramatic sky in just 30 secs I was happy to follow them inside the hall for their first dance as a married couple.
Here are my favourite photos of the day.
