Toyah and Simon
First wedding of the year. Bridal preparation at the Village Hotel, at 7 a.m. Sunday. Totally relaxed. I try to capture as much as possible before I quickly run to the Rock Ferry Salvation Army Community Church in to find Simon warming up his double bass as he will play moments before Toyah arrives at the church. Such a unique wedding already, leave aside the amazing people I met on the day. After a long hair lifting service with songs of joy from every one in the church, we headed for the reception and party at the Hilton hotel in Liverpool. Since the weather had been really cold and wet all day, we decided to do the group photos inside the church and inside Hilton, while we left the couples photos for a little later on despite the weather.
As the guests were still gathering downstairs, I grabbed the chance to shoot the decoration and some details from the function room upstairs. A lovely staircase group photo at the entrance and then on to the reception soon after. I had not had a chance to hear the duo called Tequila live before, although their good reputation had made their name familiar already. Danny’s versatile voice made covers from Sinatra to Bon Jovi a piece of cake. Being a musician myself, I can say I have a musical ear that will pick up any mistakes, but I could not find any. Got Simon and Toyah in my car and drove across the road to the Liverpool wheel, as it was the only illuminated landmark within range – you can pretty much imagine that the night had already fallen pretty dark, as we are talking about 5pm in January. Not to mention the light rain and cold west wind coming from the ocean. A few minutes there were more than enough for the three of us, so we quickly returned to the hotel for the wedding party.
I suppose any further details would not interest anyone, so lets see some of the photos I would like to share with you here, while wishing Toyah and Simon a joint life full of love and happiness.
